Streak is hiring our first dedicated engineering manager. The engineering manager will primarily be the people manager for our engineering team. Depending on experience and desire, the engineering manager will be directly responsible for some or all of our engineering team (currently ~15 engineers, distributed between product, infrastructure, and mobile).

A successful engineering manager will:

  • Work with the engineers on their team to ensure that they have clear objectives that both support the larger team and meet their personal career objectives.
  • Ensure that engineers are professionally fulfilled and have the organizational support needed.
  • Facilitate engineer feedback, performance reviews, and compensation adjustments.
  • Reduce avoidable intra-team and inter-team organizational friction.
  • Coordinate with technical and product leadership to plan organizational goals and set team up for successful execution.
  • Plan and, with our recruiting team, execute on engineering hiring.
  • Ensure an inclusive and supportive environment, both in hiring practices and within the existing team.

A successful engineering manager may also:

  • Spearhead and/or contribute to cross-functional initiatives for the benefit of the larger company.
  • Spend up to a third of their time working as an engineer or as a product manager/lead.

A candidate who is likely to be a good fit for the engineering manager role:

  • Has technical and/or managerial experience sufficient to be able to reason with the benefit of experience about interpersonal, technical, and organizational issues affecting engineering teams.
  • Has sufficient tolerance for ambiguity to be able to be successful in a startup environment.
  • Is excited to be working with a large sphere of influence and with significant ability to set direction and focus for the team.

This role will report to our VP of Engineering.
